Training

Taking professionalism and responsibility seriously. Whether in the company’s training facilities in Coos Bay, Portland, Los Angeles, or Honolulu, or on location in a tug’s galley, training plays an essential role in enhancing the quality and professionalism in everything we do. All employees attend annual training seminars on such topics as on-the-job safety, operations, customer service, and professional development. Managers and supervisors are given specialized training in leadership and management skills.

Hazwoper—hazardous waste operations emergency response—an aggressive three day training program developed by the company’s training department focusing on spill prevention and response. All tug and barge personnel receive the initial 24 hours of intensive training along with annual refresher training to keep skills sharp and knowledge up-to-date. Our Company Response Team has received further training and participates in regular drills and simulations, and stands ready to respond to any incident involving our vessels.
